We developed a new connector with a reduced shoulder height and a thicker “O” ring to resolve that problem. The improved connector that we specifically designed served as an alternative connector to stop liquid ingress and improve connectivity and this reduced the strain placed on the connecting mechanism. The connector was redesigned using gold plated connector pins to improve conductivity and eliminate oxidation and the thicker O ring improved the weather sealing. A reduced shoulder height was also incorporated into the design which reduced the strain on the fitting.

The reduced shoulder height reduced the leverage on the connector, thereby reducing the effective strain on the connector. The reduced shoulder height also gives us the advantage of using less material for the connector and thereby reducing cost and its carbon foot print. The thicker “O” ring provided a superior fit and improved weather shielding for the connector. Gold plated connector pins were used to improve the conductivity and eliminate oxidation at the connection interface. The connector passed the customers test parameters.
